A new study involving creatine and Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) caught our attention recently. Creatine monohydrate, long used by NYBC (and DAAIR) members for its lean muscle-building capacity, was studied in a realistic exercise setting involving people 65 or older, who are at risk of developing health complications due to loss of muscle mass and weakness. The results of this well-designed study pointed to a clear benefit for those taking the creatine monohydrate + CLA combination while following a regular program of moderate resistance training.

The study, “Creatine Monohydrate and Conjugated Linolei Acid Improve Strength and Body Composition Following Ressistance Exercise in Older Adults,” was funded by the Canadian Institute of Health Research and can be found at www.plosone.org.
